Ending up in a role that combines your personal interests and your hobbies is something that everyone aspires to. The good news is that achieving this isn't impossible. In fact, there are opportunities to do just that in Guernsey.
Mark Parsons, Business Systems Manager in the Fiduciary Services Department at Deutsche Bank, is proof that this can happen. Born, raised and educated in Guernsey Mark is a local boy who has immersed himself in a career that has enabled him to discover his natural interests, develop his skills and apply them in an international business from his home island.
Having studied Business and Finance at Guernsey's College of Further Education, Mark entered the world of employment working in a trust administration role at a local accountancy firm. After five years in that position, Mark decided to take some time out, and embarked on an extended period of travelling around South East Asia.
"I gained a great deal of experience in my first trust administration role," explained Mark. "But I got the travel bug and decided to see a bit of the world. It was a real eye opener. When I got back to Guernsey a year later, I was set on working for an organisation that had an international remit.
"Deutsche Bank really fit the bill - not only does it have a global reach, but I was also able to apply my trust administration skills. Deutsche Bank's trust administration business is headquartered in Guernsey, so it was a really exciting option."
